The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland recently co-organized a workshop entitled "Nam Dinh: The next destination for Swiss and European investment in Vietnam".

The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long, Vice President of the SVEF Ivo Sieber, Chairman of Nam Dinh province Pham Dinh Nghi, and many business leaders from Switzerland and Europe.

It featured speeches highlighting many strategic advantages of Nam Dinh, including competitive industrial park rental prices, an abundant workforce with skills and improving productivity.

Additionally, there was a seminar on unlocking new frontiers of business potential in Vietnam, with the participation of experts from government organizations, enterprises and trade organizations.

Mai Van Quyet, head of the Department of Planning and Investment of Nam Dinh province, presented in detail the locality’s investment incentives and plans to attract foreign enterprises.

Petra Keil, representative of Syngenta Group, said that this unit has many years of experience in investment, operation and development in Nam Dinh.

Nam Dinh’s competitive pricing, combined with its talented workforce, made it a strategic choice for the group, Keil said, adding that the group has been able to build strong local partnerships and find the right talent to drive its operations.

Meanwhile, Jing Lu – representative of the Energy Depot, a total energy solutions company- expressed her interest in the wind power market that Nam Dinh is aiming for. She said, “Nam Dinh’s focus on areas such as technology and energy is completely in line with our business development goals in the coming time,”

In response to the concerns of the participants at the workshop, Ambassador Phung The Long mentioned the cooperation process between Vietnam and Switzerland, and affirmed that not only Nam Dinh province in particular, but the Vietnamese Government in general always has preferential policies for foreign invested enterprises.

Ambassador Phung The Long stressed that Switzerland is a long-standing partner of Vietnam and investment in Nam Dinh is an important step in strengthening this long-standing relationship. He affirmed that Vietnam encourages more Swiss businesses to explore opportunities in Nam Dinh as well as in Vietnam and that the SVEF is committed to always accompanying the parties on the development journey.

The workshop concluded with a number of businesses showing their keen interest in exploring Nam Dinh’s potential as a future investment expansion destination.

The event also underlined the importance of boosting bilateral trade ties  between Switzerland and Vietnam, with Nam Dinh serving as a promising destination for future international investments.
