YÊN BÁI — Local authorities in Yên Bái City successfully captured two large crocodiles that had escaped from their enclosure on Tuesday.
The incident occurred when a citizen in Nam Cường Ward, who had raised two crocodiles weighing over 100kg each in the Sấu Swamp, discovered the animals were missing on September 9.
Locals who helped the family move belongings due to flooding suspected the reptiles had escaped with the rushing waters.
On September 10, military patrols using rescue boats located the crocodiles in a reservoir in Nam Cường Ward. The crocodiles were safely captured using tranquiliser guns, and no injuries were reported. — VNS
