Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to gather feedback and finalize a draft decree on encouraging rooftop solar power, for submission to the government for issuance next week.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on August 13 stressed the significance of consistency in the technical approach as well as economic efficacy while developing a decree on mechanisms and policies to develop rooftop solar power.
According to the plan, Vietnam Electricity will pay for the surplus energy from the local solar power system to the national grid in alignment with the average market electricity price of the previous year.
The Green and Clean Energy towards NetZero Forum, with the theme “Prospects of the New Energy Development - International Experiences and Effective Strategies for Vietnam,” took place in Hanoi on July 10.
The MoIT proposes that rooftop solar power installations at residences and public offices for self-use and grid connection will either not be permitted to sell excess power or will sell it for zero dong.
