The General Statistics Office (GSO) unveiled that an upturn was recorded in the prices of nine groups of products and services, while a downturn was recorded in those of two remaining groups.
The highest rise was seen in the prices of medicine and healthcare services at 9.47% against December 2024, contributing 0.51% to the overall CPI increase.
It was followed by transportation services at 0.95%, food and catering services at 0.74%, beverage and tobacco at 0.69%, and other goods and services at 0.51%.
Meanwhile, the two groups of services recording fall in prices were education, down 0.04%, and post and telecommunications, down 0.12%.
January’s core inflation edged up 0.42% month on month and 3.07% year on year, according to the statistics agency.
