HÀ NỘI - A competition entitled Việt Nam in My Heart aiming to promote the Vietnamese language was launched in Hungary on September 8.

Held by the Budapest Vietnamese Language Centre, the event was launched in celebration of the day honouring the Vietnamese language (September 8).

The contest aims to foster a love for the Vietnamese language and strengthen the connection to the homeland among young overseas Vietnamese in the European country.

Trần Anh Tuấn, head of the centre, said that the contest is open to various forms, such as essays, poetry, articles, video clips, and drawings. The submission period runs from September 8, 2024, to March 7, 2025.

Speaking at the event, Charge d'affaires Lê Trọng Hà praised the efforts of teachers in preserving the Vietnamese language in Hungary.

He pledged that the embassy will continue support for the centre, particularly during the contest's period.

The embassy will also collaborate with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) to provide the centre with 10 sets of Fun Vietnamese books. - VNA/VNS
