This achievement comes following the Vietnamese team's impressive performance at the Asian Karate Federation Senior Championships which ended on September 22 in Hangzhou in China.
Local fighters pocketed three gold, two silver, and one bronze medals to rank second in the final medal tally.
At the Asian tournament, the Vietnamese team progressed through to the final round in three categories, including in the men's Kata (performance) team, the women's Kata team, and women's Kumite (combat) team.
The World Karate Federation recognised this tournament as a qualifying event for the Karate World Cup 2024 National Team Championships.
According to the schedule, the Vietnamese team were given three official slots at the global tournament.
This marks the first time that local fighters have won tickets to compete in the Karate World Cup National Team Championships.
The country had entered the final round of the women's Kumite (combat) team at the Asian Karate Federation Senior Championships in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024, claiming gold medals in 2021 and 2024. Moving forward, they are expected to shine in the global tournament this year.
