The General Administration of Customs of China has approved Vietnam’s sample quarantine certificate of live monkeys, paving the way for the export of the animal from Vietnam to China for scientific research.

The Chinese agency on July 31 sent a document on the approval to the Department of Animal Health under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Earlier, the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Administration of Customs of China signed a protocol on quarantine requirements for long-tailed macaques to be exported from Vietnam to China following talks between the two sides’ officials.

Under the signed document, Vietnamese enterprises which can meet the conditions must register for the confirmation with the Department of Animal Healththat will then ask the Chinese side for permission.

To date, Vietnam and China have signed 21 memoranda of understanding and protocols on the shipment of agro-forestry-fishery products to each other’s markets.

Vietnam has exported 12 kinds of fruit and vegetables, including watermelons, mangosteens, black jelly, durians, fresh bananas, sweet potatoes, dragon fruits, rambutans, mangos, longans, lychees, jackfruits, bird’s nests, fish powder, dairy products, seafood, and other items serving the animal feed production.
