Over 170 participants from Southeast Asia will head to Paris to compete, with Thailand taking the lead with 51 athletes taking part in 16 sports.
Malaysia is second with 29 athletes across 12 sports, including nine badminton players. Malaysia with 26 athletes, Singapore with 23 athletes, and the Philippines with 22 athletes are third, fourth, and fifth in the list, respectively.
A total of 16 Vietnamese competitors will vie for medals in 11 sports, including athletics, cycling, swimming, shooting, weightlifting, canoeing, rowing, badminton, archery, boxing, and judo.
Vietnam ranks sixth in the list, followed by Timor Leste with three athletes, Laos with two athletes, Cambodia with two athletes, and Myanmar with one athlete.
The Vietnamese delegation will consist of 39 members, including the 16 athletes, and will be headed up by Dang Ha Viet, director of the Sports Authority of Vietnam.
The 2024 Paris Olympics taking place from July 26 to August 11 will attract the participation of competitors from 200 countries and territories worldwide who will vie for medals in 32 sports.
