Vietnam Airlines announced on August 22 that it will operate direct flights from the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi to the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh and vice versa, starting on October 27.

Accordingly, there will be four weekly flights taking place every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Airbus A321 aircraft will be used to transport passengers on the new air route.

Vietnam Airlines is the first domestic airline to open direct flights to Phnom Penh, contributing to completing a flight and trade network between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Currently, passengers who wish to fly from Hanoi to Phnom Penh must first transit via Vientiane, Laos.

To mark the launch of the flights, Vietnam Airlines is offering attractive round-trip airfares for flights with a starting price from just US$262, equivalent to more than VND6 million. The discount policy will last until September 30 and will apply to the flights departing during the October 27 to November 2 period.

In the first six months of this year, Cambodia was Vietnam’s fastest-growing market, increasing by 396% against pre-COVID levels, followed by India with growth of 312% and Indonesia at 177%.

Cambodia was one of the 10 largest sources of visitors for the country’s inbound tourism market between January and June.
