TRÀ VINH A series of prominent tourism products following the green tourism trend, based on nature and culture, combined with environmental protection, sustainable conservation of natural resources, and the natural ecosystem, will be developed by Trà Vinh Province.

In recent years, transportation infrastructure in Trà Vinh has been fundamentally completed, contributing to local socio-economic development.

The province is recognised for its significant tourism potential, where cultural tourism linked with spiritual tourism make for distinctive products compared to other Mekong Delta provinces due to the development of local ethnic groups with unique cultures, religions, languages, and scripts.

The province currently has 131 tourism accommodations; 13 domestic travel companies; one international travel company, and 33 culinary restaurants that also sell specialties, souvenirs, and operate dining and entertainment businesses.

It also has many prominent tourism sites.

Based on available tourism potential and established unique tourism products, Trà Vinh has developed and launched tourist routes, such as the cultural and community tourism route “Trà Vinh City - Khmer Cultural and Tourism Village - Cồn Chim”; the eco-tourism route “Trà Vinh City - Khmer Cultural and Tourism Village - Cồn Hô”; the cultural-eco-tourism route “Tiểu Cần - Cầu Kè - Trà Cú”; and the tourism route “Trà Vinh City - Cầu Ngang - Cồn Ông - Ba Động Beach”.

In the first six months of 2024, Trà Vinh's tourism sector continued to grow in both revenue and visitor numbers.

The total number of visitors to Trà Vinh reached over 1.5 million, an increase of 42.2 per cent compared to the same period a year ago, and total tourism revenue exceeded VNĐ1 trillion (US$44.1 million).

It is expected that by 2027, the completion of the Đại Ngãi Bridge over the Hậu River will reduce the distance from Cà Mau through Trà Vinh, Sóc Trăng, and Bạc Liêu to HCM City by about 80 km, creating favorable conditions for Trà Vinh's tourism sector to achieve a breakthrough in the coming period.

Regional tourism linkages

Some experts and officials from provincial departments and cities believe that Trà Vinh's tourism development is still not commensurate with its potential, with the number of visitors and tourism revenue still modest compared to other localities in the region.

Therefore, Trà Vinh Province should focus on developing regional tourism linkages and connecting with provinces and cities nationwide, especially HCM City and other provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

According to Lê Trương Hiền Hòa, Deputy Director of the HCM City Department of Tourism, Trà Vinh Province should actively carry out the 2024 cooperative tourism development programme between HCM City and the 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta.

HCM City is always striving to promote tourism cooperation with the 13 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, including Trà Vinh Province, he said.

For example, in September 2024, the HCM City Department of Tourism, in collaboration with various domestic and international entities, will organise the 18th HCM City International Tourism Fair (ITE HCMC 2024), focusing on creating opportunities for businesses to find partners and introduce tourism products and services to domestic and international visitors.

Trà Vinh's tourism and travel businesses can seize the opportunity to market local products and showcase the province's unique attractions.

Trà Vinh is a coastal province in the Mekong Delta, located between the Tiền River and Hậu River, adjacent to the provinces of Bến Tre, Vĩnh Long, Sóc Trăng, and the East Sea; 120 kilometres from HCM City via National Highway 60 and 80 kilometres from Cần Thơ City via National Highway 54. VNS
