The Vietnamese team defeated Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh team 3-1 in the semifinals of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship in Thailand on November 27 evening.
Right-side hitter Bich Tuyen, along with outside hitter Le Thanh Thuy and foreign player Warisara, performed well to help Ninh Binh Club secure a crucial victory and earn a spot in the finals.
The official website of the Asian Volleyball Confederation reported Bich Tuyen scored 35 points in this match, which is also the highest score achieved by a player in this tournament.
According to the regulations, the top two teams will qualify for the 2024 FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, scheduled to take place in December this year in China.
Ninh Binh is one of the eight teams participating in the tournament, alongside Vero Volley Milano (Italy), Imoco Conegliano (Italy), Gerdau/Minas (Brazil), Praia Clube (Brazil), Zamalek SC (Egypt), and NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki (Japan). The final ticket has yet to be determined.
This is the first time in history that Ninh Binh Club has reached the finals of the Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship and secured a spot in the World Championship.
In 2023, Vietnam’s Sport Center 1 won the Asian Championship, earning a ticket to the World Championship. However, the team are comprised of members of the Vietnamese women’s national volleyball team.
Ninh Binh will take on defending champions NEC Red Rockets of Japan in the finals of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship. In the group stage, the Japanese team defeated Ninh Binh 3-0. The final match is due to take place on September 29.
