HÀ NỘI — The Nhổn-Hà Nội Station metro line has received over 393,000 passengers after just seven days of commercial operation (from August 8 to 14), according to the operator Hà Nội Metro.
The number is more than double the number of passengers on the Cát Linh - Hà Đông line, the first metro to be in service in Hà Nội and in the country.
On the first day of commercial operation on August 8, with 170 train trips, the line saw 37,244 passengers experiencing the ride. By August 14, the number of daily passengers increased to 44,280.
Notably, on weekends, the number of passengers spiked dramatically. Specifically, on Saturday, August 10, the line recorded 66,087 passengers while on Sunday, the metro reported a record-breaking number of 100,515 passengers.
Meanwhile, the Cát Linh - Hà Đông metro line had 165,824 passengers in its first seven days of operation.
Vũ Hồng Trường, director of Hà Nội Metro, said: "The increasing passenger volume day by day demonstrates the effectiveness of this public transport mode."
The elevated section from Nhổn to Cầu Giấy includes eight stations of Nhổn (S1), Minh Khai (S2), Phú Diễn (S3), Cầu Diễn (S4), Lê Đức Thọ (S5), Vietnam National University (S6), Chùa Hà (S7), and Cầu Giấy (S8).
For the first fifteen days of commercial operations, all passengers are served free of charge according to the Resolution of the Hà Nội People's Council.
In the first three months, the metro line will operate from 5:30am to 10pm, with a consistent train frequency of ten minutes per trip.
In the future, the schedule will be adjusted based on passenger demand to best meet the needs of commuters on this route. — VNS
