Lives return to normal after devastation and loss from Typhoon Yagi

The lives of poor people living under Long Biên Bridge in Hà Nội have quickly returned to normal. Although locals are still facing difficulties, thanks to the help of the authorities and many benefactors, people are rebuilding their lives.

HÀ NỘI — The lives of poor people living under Long Biên Bridge in Hà Nội have quickly returned to normal following the devastation caused by the flooding following Typhoon Yagi. Although they still face challenges in their daily lives, thanks to the help of local authorities and many benefactors, people are rebuilding are their heavy losses.
Floodwaters have receded and the mud has been cleared from the poor hamlet.
Local residents have been supported with many essentials including food delivered by philanthropists.
A man repairs a damaged frame which will be used to rebuild one of the makeshift homes.
Residents have returned to growing crops in the shadow of the famous bridge.
Many volunteers, some from the Women's Union of wards in Hoàn Kiếm District, help with planting and taking care of the flower garden in the hamlet.
A local man also helps cultivate the flowers in the beds around the hamlet.
People who live under the Long Biên Bridge in Hà Nội are busy rebuilding and replanting.
When Typhoon Yagi hit on September 7, followed by huge floodwaters from upstream, many of the makeshift homes and the few possessions of those living close to the bridge, were swept away.— VNS
