Central bank sells additional 7,900 taels of SJC gold in May 21 gold auction
In a gold auction on May 21, 7,900 taels (equivalent to 70 lots) of SJC-brand gold bullion were successfully sold out of the 16,800 that the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) offered for sale.
There were 9 bidders taking part in the eighth auction.
The central bank said that both the lowest and highest winning price were VND89.42 million (over US$3,500) per tael.
According to the SBV, the minimum bidding volume of the auction was five lots, equivalent to 500 taels while the maximum bidding volume per member was 40 lots.
This is the fifth successful auction out of a total of eight auctions held. The three others were postponed due to a lack of registered bidders. The total amount of gold successfully auctioned after these five sessions is 35,100 taels.
Ahead of the May 21 auction, SJC gold declined by VND500,000 to VND88.5 million per tael for buying and VND90.5 million per tael for selling.
