42 Vietnamese movies to compete at seventh Hanoi int'l film festival

A total of 42 local movies will compete in three categories, including feature films, short films, and contemporary feature films, at the upcoming seventh Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF VII), according to the organising board.

Among them, the only one local movie competing in the Feature Films category is “Ngày Xưa Có Một Chuyện Tình” (“Love Upon a Time”), which is adapted from a novel by best-selling author Nguyen Nhat Anh.

“Love Upon a Time”, directed by Trinh Dình Le Minh, tells the story of romantic love and the journey of personal growth by the main characters.

Meanwhile, there are eight short films and 33 contemporary feature films which will be compete at the event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that HANIFF 2024 will be held from November 7 to November 11.

The annual event aims to honour the best movies and new talents whilst encouraging co-operation among producers and delegates. It can also serve as a venue for the celebration and betterment of both Vietnamese and international cinema, as well as providing a chance for local and foreign filmmakers to meet and exchange experience and thoughts with each other. The organisation board has selected 500 films from 40 countries and territories to compete in the film fest.

Screenings of the participating movies will take place at CGV’s cinema, BHD Star Cineplex at Vincom Centre Pham Ngoc Thach, and the walking street in the capital.
