Zurich forum to boost Vietnam – Switzerland economic cooperation
Officials, economic experts and academicians of Vietnam and Switzerland will examine opportunities to foster economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries at a joint forum due to take place in Zurich, Switzerland, on June 4.
Among keynote speakers and panelists are Dr. Philipp Rösler, president of the Swiss - Viet Economic Forum; Natalie Rast, head of Bilateral Economic Relations Asia/Oceania, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland; Prof. Dr. Harald Gall, Dean Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics, University of Zurich; Dr. Urs Lustenberger, Chairman of Swiss - Asia Chamber of Commerce; and Luong Hoang Thai, director general of the Department of Multilateral Trade Policy under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam.
The Swiss - Viet Economic Forum 2024 aims to strengthen collaboration between government bodies, regional authorities, investors, and businesses of both countries.
It seeks to promote opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation and sustainable development that are mutually beneficial to the two countries. At the same time, it helps to improve understanding of the market and legal corridors, as well as to learn about challenges and opportunities in key areas, creating a favourable environment for business and investment activities in the two countries.
Experts will identify and strategize on how key industries can optimize the benefits derived from economic policies, including addressing free trade agreements on tariff reductions, non-tariff barriers, intellectual property rights, and regulatory alignment to facilitate trade and investment flows and market access.
They will also examine opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the fields of finance, innovation and startup.
The forum will be co - organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Switzerland and the Vietnam -Switzerland Economic Forum.
The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF) made its debut in Zurich in January 2024, aiming to foster collaboration, innovation and sustainable growth between Vietnamese and Swiss enterprises. Its target is to create a platform that not only helps to improve mutual understanding but also promotes deep interactions and innovation partnership between Vietnam and Switzerland.
