Head coach Hua Hien Vinh has chosen to bring a squad of 23 players after removing defender Nguyen Manh Hung, striker Nguyen Anh Tuan, and Czech-based midfielder Ho Huu Hung.
The AFF U19 Boys Championship is scheduled to take place in Indonesia from July 17 to July 29. Vietnam have been drawn in Group B and will play their opening match against Myanmar on July 18, followed by a fixture against Australia on July 21 before ending the group stage with a game against Laos on July 24.
Australia and Laos are considered two strong rivals in Group B as Australia previously won the championship title in 2020 and Laos were finished with the runner-up title in 2022.
The ASEAN tournament this year consists of 12 teams which are divided into three groups.
The top three teams and the best second-placed team will progress to the semi-final. Following this, the two winning teams in the semi-finals will vie for the championship title, whilst the losers from the semi-finals will compete in a match to determine the third-placed team.
