In an announcement released on July 29 by the organising board of the Autodesk ASEAN Innovation Awards 2024, the firm’s work successfully surpassed 150 other entries from regional countries such as Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines, to ultimately clinch the award.
The submission for BIM application in the design of the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project was conducted by Dai Phong Construction Design Consulting JSC as a consulting firm in making the project proposal. The expressway runs for a total length of 60km in Lang Son province and connects the Huu Nghi border gate with the North - South highway.
The project received investment under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with a total investment of VND11.024 trillion. It is being undertaken by a consortium of Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company, Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company, 568 Construction Joint Stock Company, and Lizen Joint Stock Company. The consortium is headed by Deo Ca Group that won the bid to carry out the project according to Decision No. 668/QD-UBND dated April 11 of the Lang Son Provincial People’s Committee. Deo Ca Group volunteered to apply digital technology to aspects including design, construction, and project management.
To implement the project, Dai Phong Construction Design Consulting JSC applied digital technology with a primary focus on the Building Information Modeling software to its technical design to help control land acquisition, manage contractors’ construction progress and quality, and to optimise the design and implementation costs. It especially helps project businesses to make plans with the general contractor, evaluate the responsibilities of consulting units, and prevent risks during the project settlement process.
Mai Manh Hong, chairman of the Board of Directors of Dai Phong Construction Design Consulting JSC, said that the application of digital technology and integration of advanced technology into project implementation, especially for big projects, has been carried out by Deo Ca Group for more than five years. The main goal of the firm is to improve design management efficiency, control the total investment, minimise design errors and deviations, and simultaneously save cost and improve construction quality.
“To meet the increasing requirements for digital technology application of Deo Ca Group, we have considered and decided to apply the Building Information Modeling solution to the Huu Nghi - Chi Lang expressway project, hoping to make a breakthrough just from the design stage,” said the executive.
According to Hong, instead of using the 2D Drawing and Design software as usual, Dai Phong has pioneered innovating design plans using the BIM software before exporting 2D design drawings to ensure high accuracy, redress previous limitations, and improve the project implementation efficiency.
Dai Phong Construction Design Consulting JSC is a leading firm specialising in design consulting, testing, and appraisal of construction projects in the nation. Boasting a team of experienced and dedicated experts, it offers optimal solutions and ensures the highest quality when carrying out projects.
The firm is authorised by Autodesk to run BIM software training programmes and to issue internationally standardised BIM certifications to organisations and individuals, especially transport infrastructure businesses, in order to meet the requirements of Industry 4.0.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on August 26. The event will bring together more than 200 brands and solutions covering a broad spectrum of fields, including robotic systems, construction materials, energy management, IoT sensors, and digitalisation from more than 20 countries. More than 10,000 companies from around the world are expected to attend the event.
The Autodesk ASEAN Innovation Awards 2024 is an annual skills-based competition which aims to honour and celebrate projects and individuals within the ASEAN region when applying Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Autodesk Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) solutions. The competition is held by Autodesk Foundation of the United States which specialises in manufacturing smart software for architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, production lines, and multimedia graphics.
The 2024 competition aims to honour the region’s best enterprises in applying Autodesk technology to industries towards digital transformation and innovation to solve challenges and improve overall work performance. The evaluation is then reviewed by a jury consisting of industry experts, academicians, and senior leaders of Autodesk.
