The national team won a total of 52 gold, 54 silver and 44 bronze medals at the competition, which featured more than 250 martial artists from six countries. Competing nations included Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, and hosts Indonesia.
Indonesia came second with 17 gold, 20 silver, and 32 bronze medals. The third position went to Thailand after grabbing 12 gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals.
The Vietnamese champions were Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc in the women’s 70kg, Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong in the women’s 57kg, Le Duy Thanh in the men’s 94kg, and Phung Thi Hue in the women’s 48kg-contact.
Other outstanding medalists included Hoang Thi Nhat Que in the women’s 70kg-contact and Le Thi My Hien in the women’s 48kg-fighting.
The annual event gathers together athletes from regional countries, providing them with an opportunity to gain experience whilst enhancing their skills in preparation for the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
