The VFF is among the nominees for the awards of the AFC Member Association of the Year (Diamond) alongside the Chinese Football Association and Football Association of Thailand.
Furthermore, the VFF features on the list of nominees for the AFC President Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football (Bronze). The Football Federation of Cambodia and the Chinese Taipei Football Association also make the shortlist.
The AFC also unveiled nominees for multiple categories, including Player of the Year with Yazan Al Naimat of Jordan, Seol Young-woo of the RoK, and Akram Afif of Qatar who will vie for the title.
Meanwhile, Cortnee Vine of Australia, Kiko Seike of Japan, and Kim Hye-ri of the RoK made the shortlist for AFC Women’s Player of the Year.
Recognising the growth of women’s football in recent years along with the success of the Continent’s top women’s players, the AFC Asian International Player of the Year (Women) prize will be awarded for the first time during this edition, with either Australia’s Ellie Carpenter or Japan’s Yui Hasegawa poised to make history, taking the total number of award categories up to 19.
