At the meeting held as part of the Vietnam Tourism and Cinema Promotion Program in the US, Phong suggested that Los Angeles pay close attention to ramping up culture and tourism cooperation with Vietnam, including launching more direct flights from major Vietnamese cities to Los Angeles in the time ahead.
He expressed his hope that the US city will share its experience in developing the cultural and cinema industries, and assist Vietnam in the implementation of the Creative Cities Network Project in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).
The immediate goal is to support Ho Chi Minh City in compiling a dossier as it seeks to become a creative city in the UCCN in the field of cinema, said Phong, adding the dossier will be submitted in 2025.
Vietnam is expected to welcome the arrival of Hollywood film studios to survey destinations, filming locations, and tourism services next year, as two sides are seeking opportunities for cooperation and development moving forward, stated the official.
Sharing this perspective, Danied Rodman, representative of the Los Angeles City, underlined the need to increase cooperation in the fields of culture, sports, and tourism, as well as through cinema.
He emphasised that LA is also planning to speed up the opening of direct flights to cities in Vietnam and that the hosting of the 2028 Olympics will open up a wealth of opportunities for the US city to expand cooperation with Vietnamese localities.
