ASEAN plus film festival kicked off in the Czech Republic on September 2 with the screening of films from nine countries, including ASEAN member states, China, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.

Present at the event were representatives of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, as well as foreign embassies in the Czech Republic and hundreds of movie lovers.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Nguyen Dieu Linh, minister-counsellor at the Embassy of Vietnam in the Czech Republic expressed her joy that this marks the third year the ASEAN plus film festival has been held, drawing plenty of attention from international friends.

Vietnam has brought two films to the event, namely “Nụ cười Việt Nam” (Vietnamese smile) that introduces beautiful footage of the country’s people and landscape to the world, and “Em và Trịnh” (Trinh and his muse), which was inspired by the life of the late songwriter Trinh Cong Son and won many domestic and international awards.

The film festival is scheduled to last through to September 9. Audiences will have the chance to enjoy cinematic works featuring diverse themes from Asian countries, including Vietnam.

This is one of the important diplomatic and cultural events being held this year to introduce images of the beauty, cultural diversity, and customs of Asian countries to international friends.
