The Miss Earth 2024 pageant will be held in the Philippines instead of Vietnam which was originally selected to play host to the event, organizers recently announced.

The pageant is scheduled to take place in November 2024.

The Philippines will host Miss Earth representatives from various countries and territories around the world, said the organisers in an announcement.

Taking part in the competition themed Heritage, contestants will travel to various localities in the Philippines to promote and showcase the local tourist attractions. Activities will commence in October, with the grand finale scheduled to take place on November 9.

All events will be broadcast on Philippine television channels and radio stations, and streamed online in several participating countries.

Miss Earth 2023 was held in Vietnam last December, and Drita Ziri of Albania won the crown after surpassing 84 contestants. The other titles were awarded to the representatives of the Philippines (Miss Air), Vietnam (Miss Water), and Thailand (Miss Fire).

At that time, Truong Ngoc Anh, chairwoman of Miss Earth Vietnam, announced that the Miss Earth 2024 pageant would continue to be held in Vietnam, though the specific time and location were not yet determined.

Miss Earth, founded by a Filipino in 2001, is one of the six major international beauty pageants, with a focus on raising environmental awareness.
