Vietnam imports 114,855 cars as of September 15

The nation imported 114,855 completely-built-up (CBU) cars this year, as of September 15, with the total value estimated at over US$2.36 billion, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

These statistics represent an annual increase of 24.3% in volume and 9.26% in value. The first half of September saw a total of 8,267 cars imported, worth US$170.8 million.

Vietnamese firms spent US$2.2 billion on importing 106,627 CBU cars throughout the past eight months of the year, representing an annual increase of 22.9% in volume and 7.5% in value.

Figures indicate that Indonesia was the biggest supplier of cars to the Vietnamese market during the January to August period with 43,810 units valued at US$642.24 million.

Thailand ranked second in terms of volume, but took the lead for value. The neighbouring country exported 39,101 units to the Vietnamese market in the period, worth US$756.64 million.

China exported 19,649 units to the nation, worth US$582 million, ranking third for both quantity and value.
