With inbound accommodation searches up 30% compared to last year, Vietnam has become a favourite destination among international revelers looking to welcome in the New Year, according to online travel services platform Agoda.

The data revealed that the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan (China), and the United States have the largest number of tourists choosing Vietnam as the place they wish to ring in the New Year.

Ho Chi Minh City is the most popular destination as tourists are keen to view the various firework displays which will be held on the banks of the Saigon River on New Year’s Eve.

Second position went to Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island off the southern coast in Kien Giang province. Other places to make the Top 5 inbound destinations for New Year celebrations include Da Nang, Hanoi, and Nha Trang.

Agoda’s data also unveiled the Top 5 international and domestic destinations for New Year’s Eve among Vietnamese travelers.
