Việt Nam became the first country in Southeast Asia to successfully perform a limb transplant and a small intestine transplant from a living donor, making it one of only 22 countries world-wide capable of performing small intestine transplants in 2020.
Every day, dozens of patients pass away due to a lack of available organs, even as about 300 brain-dead patients and more than 6,000 organs and tissues are left unused.
The hospital has become the second medical facility under the Hanoi Department of Health (after Saint Paul General Hospital) to be named on the organ transplant map of Việt Nam.
