The Swiss-Viet Economic Forum (SVEF), in collaboration with the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, recently co-organised a workshop entitled "Nam Dinh: The next destination for Swiss and European investment in Vietnam".

The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Phung The Long; Ivo Sieber, vice president of the SVEF; Pham Dinh Nghi, chairman of Nam Dinh province; and many business leaders from Switzerland and Europe.

It featured a range of speeches highlighting many strategic advantages of Nam Dinh, including competitive industrial park rental prices, an abundant workforce with skills, and improving productivity.

Additionally, there was a seminar held focusing on uncovering new frontiers of business potential in Vietnam, featuring the participation of experts from government organisations, enterprises, and trade groups.

Mai Van Quyet, head of the Department of Planning and Investment of Nam Dinh province, presented in detail the locality’s investment incentives and plans aimed at attracting foreign enterprises.

Petra Keil, representative of Syngenta Group, stated that this unit boasts many years of experience in investment, operation, and development in Nam Dinh.

Nam Dinh’s competitive pricing, combined with its talented workforce, therefore make it a strategic choice for the group, Keil said, adding that the group has been able to build strong local partnerships and find the right talent in order to drive forward its operations.

Meanwhile, Jing Lu, a representative of the Energy Depot - a total energy solutions company, expressed her interest in the wind power market that Nam Dinh is aiming for. She said, “Nam Dinh’s focus on areas such as technology and energy is completely in line with our business development goals in the coming time.”

In response to concerns among participants at the workshop, Ambassador Long mentioned the co-operation process between the nation and Switzerland, going on to affirm that not only Nam Dinh province in particular, but the Vietnamese Government in general, always has preferential policies for foreign invested enterprises.

Ambassador Long stressed that Switzerland is a long-standing partner of Vietnam and investment in Nam Dinh represents an important step in strengthening this long-standing relationship. He therefore affirmed that Vietnam encourages more Swiss businesses to explore opportunities in the locality, as well as in Vietnam in general, with the SVEF being committed to always accompanying the parties on the development journey.

The workshop concluded with a number of firms showing their keen interest in exploring Nam Dinh’s potential as a future investment expansion destination.

The event also underlined the importance of boosting bilateral trade ties between Switzerland and Vietnam, with Nam Dinh serving as a promising destination for future international investments.
