HÀ NỘI - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) held a press conference in Hà Nội on June 3 to announce the results of the 20-year implementation of the Politburo’s Resolution 36-NQ/TW on OV affairs.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and SCOV Chairwoman Lê Thị Thu Hằng said Resolution 36 has raised public awareness of OV affairs as well as sense of reponsibility in implementing tasks relevant to OV affairs. It has garnered widespread support and active participation from OVs.
She highlighted achievements made in policy building consultations, securing legal rights and protections for OVs, preservation of Vietnamese language and national cultural identity, and external news services to ensure OVs remain informed about Việt Nam.
Resolution 36 builds upon the Party and State's unwavering commitment to viewing OVs as an integral part of the Vietnamese nation, a vital resource, and a cornerstone of national unity, she said.
On the occasion, Hằng revealed that the fourth World Conference of OVs and the 2024 forum of OV intellectuals and experts will take place from August 21-28. The aim is to disseminate the Party's guidelines and State policies and laws related to OVs, gain insight into their difficulties to provide timely support and collect suggestions for national development in the new situation. - VNS
