In the September 29 final match in Phan Thiet city, the young prodigy secured his victory with a score of 50-23, earning a prize of EUR40,000.
Before reaching the finals, Luc had a surprising victory over world number one Dick Jaspers, defeating him 50-32. The Vietnamese representative received 20,000 EUR as the runner-up, while Belgian player Eddy Merckx and Dutch player Dick Jaspers shared the third place, taking home EUR12,000 each.
The tournament was organised by the World Carom Billiards Federation (UMB), Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation, and Binh Thuan, attracting 48 top players from 26 countries, including the RoK, Japan, Turkey, Belgium, and Spain. Vietnam was represented by seven competitors.
This is the first time Vietnam has been selected as the venue of the world 3-cushion billiards championship.
