Tac Ka Coong Festival is a celebration held by Co Tu ethnic people in order to offer thanks to the gods of mountains, forests, rivers, and streams within the village in order to bestow upon their descendants a life of warmth, happiness, prosperity, bountiful harvests, and good health.
The Tac Ka Coong Festival of the Co Tu ethnic group in A Luoi district has been re-enacted for the first time as part of the 15th culture, sports and tourism Festival of the mountainous ethnic groups who reside in the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
The ceremony takes place on the morning of May 16 in A Luoi Square.
Artists come together as they participate in the re-enactment of the Tac Ka Coong Festival of the Co Tu ethnic group.
The festival consists of main rituals such as the Choh co (setting up the Neu pole), the Tong Ti ri (buffalo binding ceremony), the Chuot Ti ri (buffalo stabbing ceremony), and the Tac Ka Coong offering ceremony (offering ceremony to the mountain gods).

The rituals are performed by village elders, alongside artisans of Hong Ha and Lam Dot communes, and a mass art troupe of A Luoi district.
The ceremony opens by setting up the Neu pole in the sacred ground of the village, sending a message to passersby coming to the festival.
The villagers pray for the Neu pole to stand tall and unwavering, and not to tilt or break during the buffalo binding ceremony, thereby ensure that the festival will be a great success.
The festival draws attention from many locals and tourists.
The villagers perform a ritual in order to thank gods for giving Co Tu ethnic people a peaceful and prosperous life.
They also pray to the gods to continue to protect their children’s health, good luck, prosperity, peace, and happiness.
The sounds of gongs and drums contribute to making the atmosphere at the festival vibrant.
