PM Chinh gives rousing welcome to national football team after ASEAN Cup victory

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly welcomed the Vietnamese national team on January 6 upon their return as champion of the 2024 ASEAN Cup.

The Government leader holds a meeting with the senior team and chief coach Kim Sang Sik following a long journey around numerous streets in the capital.
Vietnam are crowned the well-deserved champions of the ASEAN Cup final after beating Thailand 3-2 in the second leg to secure their third title with a 5-3 aggregate score at Thailand's home ground of the Rajamangala stadium on the evening of January 5.
This represents the third time that the Vietnam men's football team has won the 2024 ASEAN Cup (formerly known as the Tiger Cup and AFF Cup). With this third championship title, the Vietnam team continues to assert its football dominance in Southeast Asia.
The PM awards the first-class Labor Order to the team.
PM Chinh also gives the third-class Labor Order to several key players, including striker Nguyen Xuan Son, captain Do Duy Manh, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai, striker Nguyen Tien Linh, and goalkeeper Nguyen Hoang Trieu for their outstanding performance at the tournament.
The Government chief presents Certificates of Merit to 29 members of the national squad.
So far, local businesses have awarded the Vietnamese football team a bonus of VND6 billion following their triumphant 2024 AFF Cup victory against Thailand.
