A charter flight coded QG870 departing from Indonesia’s Jakarta International Airport landed at Da Nang International Airport on December 19, bringing 170 tourists to the central city of Vietnam.

This marks the first charter flight conducted by an alliance of Indonesian and Da Nang travel companies after leasing an A320 aircraft from Indonesia Airlines Citilink for testing from December 2024 to January 2025.

During the testing period, there will be a total of seven flights running, bringing more than 1,200 Indonesian visitors to the central city. If the outcomes are positive, then this route will subsequently be upgraded to a regular air service next year.

While staying in Da Nang from December 19 – 22, the tourists are scheduled to visit a number of local famous destinations, such as Sun World Ba Na Hills tourist area, Ngu Hanh Son (Marble Mountains) landscape site, and APEC Park, as well as experiencing local delicacies and entertainment activities there.

Indonesia is a potential market for Da Nang tourism. Recently, the coastal city deployed two tourism promotion programmes for travel businesses and airlines in a bid to strengthen connectivity.

The city also welcomed two famtrip delegations comprising of 70 Indonesian travel businesses who came to survey tourist attractions and tourism products.

The opening of the new air service is therefore anticipated to open up a wealth of opportunities for the city as it seeks to connect with the Indonesian 280 million market.

This year, Da Nang received more than 38,000 Indonesian visitors, representing a 1.5 fold-rise compared to last year.
