Military Band Exchange of six countries held in Hanoi

Military bands from Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam took part in the 2024 Military Band Exchange held at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi on December 19 evening.

The exchange was part of the commemorations for the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th Anniversary of the All-People National Defense Day. It also helped to promote Vietnam’s culture, people, and military to international armed forces and friends, especially within ASEAN, while fostering mutual understanding, trust, and solidarity among participating nations.

The programme conveyed a shared message of “Military cooperation for peace, security, and prosperity among nations.”

During the ceremony, domestic and international audiences enjoyed performances by military bands from the Vietnam People’s Amy, Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, People’s Liberation Army of China, Laos People’s Army, Malaysian Armed Forces, and Myanmar Army.

A notable highlight was a joint performance by 180 musicians from all nations, featuring the 1954 Dien Bien Phu victory over French colonialism, Vietnamese soldiers’ march to Saigon in 1975, and great president Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam.

In his opening remarks, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, emphasized that the exchange was more than an artistic event as it was an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship among armed forces and nations in the region and beyond.

The musical pieces and performances deliver powerful messages of peace, cooperation, and sustainable development, symbolizing g the unity and shared aspirations of soldiers who work tirelessly toward building a peaceful and prosperous world, he noted.
