The retail price of RON95, the common petrol for domestic use in Vietnam, rose VND410 to VND21,000 per litre, as of 3p.m. on December 19, according to the latest price adjustment cycle by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Under the December 19 decision, the retail price of E5 RON92 also went up by VND380 to VND20,400 per litre.

Meanwhile, other kinds of oil also saw increases in price as of December 19 afternoon.

The prices of diesel 0.05S and kerosene climbed by VND480 and VND400 to VND18,730 and VND18,960 per litre respectively.

The price of mazut oil 180CST 3.5S was revised up VND330 to VND15,900 per kilogram.

In addition, the two ministries decided not to make use of the petrol price stabilisation fund in this adjustment.

Since the beginning of the year, petrol prices have undergone 25 increases and 25 declines.

Globally fuel prices fluctuated last week due to several factors, including the European Union’s approval of sanctions against Russia, which is a member of OPEC+, geopolitical risks in the Middle East, and the ongoing military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

These factors have led to price increases and decreases in various fuel types. On average, over the past seven days, RON 95 increased by 2.5-2.6% to US$86.2 per barrel, while diesel rose by 2.6-3.1% to US$89.6.
