HBSO to stage Christmas concert at HCMC Opera

HCM CITY The HCM City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) will bring a festive spirit to HCM City’s residents and visitors with the Christmas Concert at the Opera House on December 21 and 22.
The concert will highlight 16 contemporary and classical pieces that express the season's spirit.
The night will open with Christmas Canticles arranged by American composer Sean O'Loughlin and performed by HBSO Symphony Orchestra.
The programme will include beloved Christmas songs such as O Holy Night, Panis Angelicus (Breads of Angles), Silent Night, Ave Maria, It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, Dazzling Joy, and more.
The performance will feature the city’s leading soloists such as Meritorious Artist Khánh Ngọc, mezzo-soprano Phan Hồng Dịu, baritone Đào Mác, and tenors Phạm Trang, and Phan Hữu Trung Kiệt.
HBSO Choir and the Korean Children's Voices Choir will also perform in the concert.

Conductor Trần Nhật Minh, head and chorus master of the HBSO Opera, will lead the concert.
Minh graduated in chorus conduction from the Magnitogorsk State Conservatory in Russia, and then earned his Master’s of Art at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2007.
He won several top prizes at international competitions such as the International Competition for Young Conductors in Vladivostok in 2003, and the International Choral Festival organised by Interkultur, the world’s leading organiser of international choir competitions and festivals, in Hội An in 2014.
