Third gold for Vietnam at Hong Kong 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Champ

On December 3 afternoon, Tuyet Van and her teammate Nguyen Thien Phung defeated their opponents from Denmark in the pair U50 class, bringing home a gold medal for Vietnam.
The Vietnamese duo performed two routines, scoring 9.040 and 8.980 points, respectively, as judged by the panel.
This is Tuyet Van’s second gold medal and Vietnam’s third gold medal at the championship.
On December 2, Tuyet Van and two other female Vietnamese athletes won a gold medal in the Women’s Team U50 class. She and her teammates Lien Thi Tuyet Mai and Nguyen Thi Le Kim defeated the three Korean athletes Cho Da-hye, Jang Myung-jin, and Kim Eun-ju in the final.
The first gold medal for Vietnam was awarded to six athletes in the mixed team class. In addition, the Vietnamese team also earned two bronze medals in the men’s junior team, women’s junior team, and women’s U30 classes.
The 2024 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship is getting underway in Hong Kong (China) from November 30 to December 4. After four days of competition, the Republic of Korea is temporarily in the lead with 12 gold medals, far ahead of other competitors. Vietnam is currently in third place, behind the Republic of Korea and the United States.
Tuyet Van is one of the Vietnamese hopefuls at this tournament. Born in 1990, she has won 6 gold medals in the SEA Games in the team categories. She had already won 4 gold medals at previous World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships.
