The festival, to be organised by the Ministry of External Affairs of India, aims to commemorate the 32nd year of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations.
The ASEAN-India Music Festival 2024 will bring together 10 bands from ASEAN member states and five bands from the host nation India.
The 2022 festival attracted approximately 15,000 people of all ages and backgrounds, including the elderly. About 7,000 viewers tuned in via YouTube Live, as it was also widely shared across national and international conventional media, such as TV, newspapers, radio, and magazines, as well as on social media, with the total engagement being 2,300,000 across all platforms.
The event was first held in October 2017 and has since developed into a large-scale music festival, with the aim of boosting cultural exchanges among ASEAN member states and India.
Originally established on March 26, 1995, from the students’ musical movement of National University of Civil Engineering, rock band The Wall first consisted of three members Tran Lap, Tran Tuan Hung, and Nguyen Hoang.
Many songs by the band have become hits, particularly among Vietnamese students, like Đường Đến Ngày Vinh Quang (Road to Glory Day), Tâm Hồn Của Đá (Soul of Stone), and Bông Hồng Thủy Tinh (Glass Rose).
Their leader, main singer and musician Tran Lap died of cancer in 2016. The remaining four members have since maintained the band’s fame at big musical events.
