Vo Van Hoan, vice chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, received a delegation of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the World Bank (WB) on November 11, seeking ways to promote Ho Chi Minh City's sustainable development based on green growth.

At the meeting, Hoan highlighted the southern city’s sustainable economic development goals and expressed hope to ramp up cooperation with international partners to promote the city’s green growth potential.

Hoan revealed that over the past three years, Ho Chi Minh City and the WB have established three main working groups for cooperation in order to provide a foundation for the development of several of the city’s strategic projects.

In particular, the recent Green Economy Forum also offered an opportunity for the metropolis to attract more foreign enterprises, especially in the fields of technology and sustainable industry.

Hoan went on to outline the city’s desire to receive support from the Swiss Government and international organisations to further facilitate ties between Ho Chi Minh City and the WB.

For her part, Sybilly Bachmann, programme manager of SECO, highlighted the remarkable progress made by the city and the WB in implementing economic development schemes.

She affirmed that SECO remains fully committed to supporting necessary policies whilst calling on further investment to be made in the city, as well as working alongside the WB to accelerate its green economy and sustainable development.
