Dozens of Vietnamese firms are showcasing their products at the seventh China International Import Expo (CIIE 2024) which opened in Shanghai on November 5, according to details given by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE).

The 6-day event is taking place as part of the National Trade Promotion Program in 2024 with a Vietnamese national pavilion introducing the country’s economic potential and achievements, whilst simultaneously promoting investment, trade, and tourism activities.

On display across the Vietnamese booths were also a range of food and processed agricultural products by local prestigious brands, namely TH True Milk, Trung Nguyen Coffee, Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Company, Visimex Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Pepper Joint Stock Company, as well as Vietnam Agricultural and Foodstuff Import-Export Joint Stock Company.

The participation of local firms at the annual expo has not only contributed to elevating the country’s image in terms of economics, investment, and tourism, but also offered a wealth of opportunities to increase sustainable exports to the Chinese market via official channels.

Furthermore, it has helped promote the brands of Vietnamese enterprises to China and other countries in the world to attract greater further foreign investment, thereby creating the optimal conditions possible for domestic businesses to expand into new markets.

According to statistics released by the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnamese import-export turnover with China during the nine-month period reached US$149.2 billion, up 21.9% against the same period from last year.

Of the figure, Vietnamese exports to China edged up by 2.9% on-year to reach US$44.4 billion, while the country's imports from the northern neighbour surged by 32.2% on-year to US$104.8 billion.
