Works by four Vietnamese painters are being showcased during the 27th Asian Art Week in London in the UK, with the event drawing plenty of attention from local and international art lovers.

The exhibition has opened with the theme of “A Glimpse of Vietnam” and consists of human stories painted by four notable Vietnamese artists, each boasting their own distinctive and unique point of view whilst being rich with character.

The four artists hail from different art generations, ranging from the post-French-colonial era (Hậu Đông Dương) to post-1986 Vietnam’s Renovation (Đổi Mới), through to Contemporary.

Each has its own distinct signature style and technique, with Phung Pham (1932)’s mastery of cubism on traditional Vietnamese lacquer, Le Thiet Cuong (1962)’s minimalism with gouache on cheesecloth, Ly Tran Quynh Giang (1978)’s intense expressions through oil on canvas, and Ngo Van Sac (1980)’s unique wood-burn and mixed media portraits.

The four artists, four unique styles, and four different perspectives, join together in a symphony to take viewers on a journey about the culture and the people of Vietnam.

The exhibition has been organised by Thang Long Art Gallery and takes place at Bonhams, one of the world's largest and most renowned auctioneers of fine arts and antiques.

The event began on October 30 and is due to run until November 8.

Originally established in May, 1996, Thang Long Art Gallery stands as one of the longest-established art galleries in Vietnam. Located in the heart of Hanoi’s Old Quarter, the gallery is also one of the largest in the capital, spanning over 520m2. Asian Art in London, which was founded in 1998, aims to promote London as the international centre for expertise and excellence in Asian Art.
