Acclaimed Australian actor Philip Quast to stage live concert in Vietnam

In the concert The Road I Took, audiences will have the chance to enjoy classic melodies, from the poignant Stars in Les Misérables to the enchanting Pretty Women from Sweeney Todd, both of which have played a significant role in establishing Quast’s reputation.
The performance will also feature talented collaborators Anne Maree McDonald and Nicholas Gentile, alongside passionate young artists from the Interstellar musical theater community.
This event presents a unique opportunity for the Australian artist to share his life stories and valuable experiences with young Vietnamese people, inspiring them with insights from his remarkable career.
The concert is part of the ongoing Culture in You program taking place from November 3-11 with the engagement of top musical theater artists from Australia, including Philip Quast, Ann-Maree McDonald, and Nicholas Gentile.
This initiative aims to foster cultural exchange and artistic collaboration between Australia and Vietnam, and provide opportunities for local audiences to interact with these renowned performers.
The program will include workshops, discussions, and performances that not only showcase the talents of the artists but also allow them to share insights and experiences from their careers with the Vietnamese audience. It is being organized by The Youniverse Education and Entertainment Company in collaboration with the Interstellar musical theater community and the Cultural Journalism Center of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association.
Philip Quast is an acclaimed Australian actor and singer known for his versatility in both theater and television. Born in 1957, he initially trained as a teacher before pursuing a career in the arts.
One of his most celebrated performances is as Inspector Javert in Les Misérables, particularly in the 10th Anniversary Concert in 1995, where his rendition of Stars became a defining moment in his career.
Quast has won multiple Laurence Olivier Awards, reflecting his prominence in the London theater scene. Besides Les Misérables, his notable roles include Georges Seurat in Sunday in the Park with George and Judge Turpin in Sweeney Todd.
Beyond his performances, Quast has contributed to the arts as a teacher and mentor, sharing his expertise and passion with the next generation of performers.
