Film director Zhang Yimou to take part in HANIFF 2024

Renowned Chinese film director Zhang Yimou is expected to take part in the seventh Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF 2024) due to take place in Hanoi from November 7 to 11, according to organisers.

A number of Korean actors who are popular in Vietnam such as Lee Kwang Soo, Shin So Yul, On Ju Wan, and Jung Man Sik will also attend the film festival, they said.

Notably, Lee Kwang Soo, who is famous for his participation in the Korean variety show Running Man and the television drama No Way Out: The Roulette is currently collaborating with actress Hoang Ha on the film project Dream of You.

In addition to these stars, HANIFF 2024 will welcome hundreds of prominent actors and artists from the Vietnamese entertainment industry as special guests.

Themed Heritage in Motion - Cinema: Soaring – Creativity, the film festival emphasizes the importance of cultural heritage in cinema and the creative processes that propel the film industry forward.

The festival will feature a diverse array of films, workshops, and discussions, celebrating both local and international filmmakers while exploring how heritage influences cinematic expression.

HANIFF is to honour and discover new talents of international and Vietnamese cinema and is a playground for connections, exchange and cooperation, for mutual development and coordination between filmmakers, film distributors and domestic and international film artists.

HANIFF features 117 excellent works from Vietnam and cinema industries around the world. The screenings have been selected from over 500 films sent to the festival selection panel. The 7th HANIFF continues to honour cinematic works that are creative and rich in human values, according to Vi Kien Thanh, head of the Cinematography Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism
