Head coach of the Vietnamese national futsal team Giustozzi Diego removed two players from his squad on October 30 to name a final list of 14 players who will compete at the 2024 Southeast Asia Futsal Championship.

The final decision was based on the performances of local futsal players at a training camp in Thailand, which also included two friendly matches.

Goalkeeper Tran Van Luong and Ngo Ngoc Son were ultimately the two cut from the list. The head coach explained that although young goalkeeper Luong showed significant improvements, he could still not compete with other experienced peers such as Ho Van Y and Pham Van Tu. Meanwhile, Ngo Ngoc Son had to withdraw due to an unfortunate injury.

Giustozzi believes that the local team will achieve its set goal at the tournament.

The 2024 Southeast Asia Futsal Championship is scheduled to take place from November 2 to November 10 in Thailand. Vietnam was in Group A alongside host country, Malaysia, Brunei, and Timor-Leste. Group B includes Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia, and Cambodia.

The teams will play in a single round-robin format within their groups, with the top two from each group ultimately advancing to the semi-final stage.
