ASEAN Cup trophy tour arrives in Vietnam

The event was attended by representatives of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) along with local football stars.
The function also saw Vietnamese football stars who had previously won the AFF Cup 2008, including Duong Hong Son, Thach Bao Khanh, and Pham Thanh Luong, take part in a football training programme for young talents.
The arrival of the trophy comes after the ASEAN Cup 2024 Trophy Tour had already been to Bangkok in Thailand, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.
It will continue on heading to Jakarta in Indonesia on November 2 and Manila in the Philippines on November 9.
The 2024 ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup represents the 15th edition of the event and will be held from December 8 to January 5, 2025. Vietnam are in Group B together with Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos.
Held biennially, ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup is the region’s largest football event. Since its inception back in 1996, the competition, which features ASEAN national teams, has drawn plenty of attention from football fans.
The tournament became an official FIFA event back in 2016. Only four teams have won the title in 14 editions, with defending champions Thailand lifting the cup seven times, Singapore with four wins, Vietnam with two wins, and Malaysia with one.
