Vietnamese athlete wins gold at Asian Muaythai Tournament

Vietnamese martial artists walked away with one gold medal and one bronze medal in the 2024 International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) Asian Muaythai Open Invitational Tournament which concluded in Chinese Taipei on October 21.

Le Cong Nghi claimed the only gold medal in the men’s 51kg category.

Showing a skillful technique, Cong Nghi overcame strong opponents in the qualifying round and knocked out a Philippine athlete in the final game to secure the championship title.

Elsewhere, the silver medal was obtained by fighter Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc in the women’s 51kg category.

The 2024 IFMA Asian Muaythai Open Invitational Tournament began from October 18 at the Taipei Municipal Gymnasium in China, attracting the participation of 200 athletes from 12 countries and territories in Asia. This was the first time that Chinese Taipei has hosted such a competition.

Vung Tau city in Vietnam’s Ba Ria-Vung Tau province has been chosen to play host to the Asian Muaythai Championship in April 2025.
