Australia’s Queensland places importance on Vietnamese market

Queensland highly values the Vietnamese market and is keen to further step up cooperation with businesses and localities from the Southeast Asian country, said Simon White, president of the Australia-Vietnam Business Council in Queensland.

White told Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam at a meeting in Sydney on October 8 that the upgrade of Vietnam – Australia relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership early this year has laid a foundation for both sides to further strengthen extensive collaboration across multiple fields.

Vietnam is Queensland’s fifth largest export market, he said, adding Australian businesses consider Vietnam to be an attractive new destination.

He revealed that Queensland state has high demand for a highly-skilled workforce and aspires to seek cooperation opportunities with regards to labour training.

For his part, Ambassador Tam spoke highly of significant contribution made by White and the Australia - Vietnam Business Council to promoting trade and investment between the two countries.

The diplomat suggested that the Australia - Vietnam Business Council continue to enhance trade connectivity among the two sides, support Vietnamese delegations to Australia as they seek to ramp up collaboration in areas of strength such as agricultural labour, construction, and green bonds .
