Gold medalist Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, who won the 2022 tournament in the women’s kumite (combat) team, will continue to represent the country in the tournament this year.
In September 2024, she also bagged a gold medal with her teammates in the same category in the Asian Karate Federation Senior Championships.
As one of the most important competitions of the year, the 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships will see the participation of nearly 2,000 athletes from 113 countries and territories worldwide, representing a record-breaking number of participants so far.
They will vie for medals available for different age groups and in both kumite (combat) and kata (performance).
The tournament is expected to provide a chance for young Vietnamese karate athletes to compete against quality martial artists and to hone in skills ahead of upcoming international tournaments.
