The administration of the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, organized the Vietnam – RoK Cultural Day in Can Tho city on October 5-6.
The 2024 event comes hot on the heel of the success of the Vietnam – RoK Cultural Day 2022, commemorating 30 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and aims to strengthen cooperation between Can Tho and its RoK partners. This is an opportunity for local people and Korean expatriates in the Mekong Delta to explore the distinctive cultural identities of both countries together. The Vietnam – RoK Cultural Day 2024 lasts for two days, featuring a variety of exciting activities. There are 50 booths showcasing the culture, tourism, cuisine, education, and trade of both countries. There are two nights of art exchanges featuring many famous artists and music groups from both Vietnam and the RoK. The event provides local people with unique cultural experiences and contributes to enhancing cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK.. On this occasion, both sides exchange views and express their desire to promote bilateral cooperation in various fields, including people-to-people diplomacy, cultural exchange, high-tech agriculture, education, and health care. Representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs of Can Tho City and the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in cultural exchange. The administration of Can Tho City and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City have raised VND622 million from individuals and organizations in both Vietnam and the RoK to award 311 scholarships to underprivileged students and children of Vietnamese-Korean families in difficult circumstances. Nguyen Thuc Hien, vice chairman of the Can Tho City administration, expresses Can Tho’s desire to work closer with the RoK Embassy in Vietnam and the RoK Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City to regularly organize cultural exchange activities and people-to-people exchanges, as well as to further cooperate in various fields such as economics and trade.
