The country's biggest metropolis earned over VND140 trillion in revenue from tourism services in nine months, up 11.9% over the same period last year, equal to 73.9% of the yearly target.
The southern city’s tourism sector has rolled out distinctive tourism products in Thu Duc city and districts, along with developing waterway tourism, cultural and historical tourism, agriculture and ecological tourism, night-time tourism, and MICE tourism in order to attract more tourists, especially foreigners.
The second river festival in May helped to preserve and promote the southern city’s culture and history, whilst building the city’s brand as a culturally rich riverside urban area.
Furthermore, the annual Ao Dai (traditional long dress) festival in March also promoted the culture and tourism of Ho Chi Minh City to visitors both at home and abroad.
This year the city’s tourism sector aims to achieve the set target of welcoming six million international visitors and 38 million domestic tourists, and earn VND190 trillion in revenue.
