Individuals and collectives donated VND2.850 billion through an art programme jointly organised by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) and Hanoi Moi (New Hanoi) newspaper on September 17 in support of people hit by typhoon Yagi.
The art programme is held at the Au Co arts centre in Hanoi on September 17 with the aim of raising funds for people being affected by typhoon Yagi in the northern region. As of 5:30 p.m. on September 15, typhoon Yagi, as well as its following downpours, flooding, and landslides left a total of 292 people dead and 38 missing. The Ministry of Planning and Investment estimated material losses at about VND40 trillion, the programme expects to help flood victims overcome difficulties faced after the historic flooding. The event saw the participants observe a minute of silence in memory of those who died due to typhoon Yagi. Some auctions of electric motorbikes and paintings are held as part of efforts to raise funds to support people in areas hit by typhoon Yagi and its accompanying flooding and landslides. A painting is sold for VND200 million at the auction. All donations will be given to the Central Relief Committee under the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) to promptly deliver to people in flood-affected areas. VOV Photos: vtcnews.vn
